Amid several speculations and rumours of likely defections from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger state, the governorship candidate of the party, Umar Mohammed Bago and the running mate, Yakubu Garba, addressed commissioners at council in Minna yesterday, making moves for reconcilliation.
During the interface, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said for the party to be victorious in the 2023 elections, unity among all members of the party must be pursued vigorously .
The governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor Ahmed Mohammed Ketso received Mohammed Bago and his entourage at the council chambers of the Government House, Minna shortly after the weekly council meeting.
The governor said reconciling all aggrieved members of the party after the primary election was key , pointing out that doing so would help in achieving victory at the next general elections.
He expressed optimism that the move for the reconciliation would be successful even as Hon. Bago explained that his visit was to reconcile with aggrieved members of the party and officially unveil his running mate to the council members.
He appreciated the governor for providing a level playing ground for the primary election, and appealed to all members of the party to put the issue of the primary elections behind them and forge ahead in unity so as to achieve success in 2023 election.
He assured them that he had no grudge against any one and urged all aggrieved members to sheath their swords and do away with political bickering , adding that the task ahead can only be achieved when they all come together as a force.
Hon. Bago acknowledged that council members are critical stakeholders, hence the need to identify with them assuring that he will continue with reconciliation move the desired result is achieved.
