Niger Assembly Confirms NSERC Chairman, Commissioners Appointment

Niger State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of the chairman and commissioners of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NSERC).

The confirmation followed executive correspondence from Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, which the speaker Hon. Muhammad Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji read during yesterday’s plenary session.

According to the speaker, Farmer Governor Bago exercised his powers under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended) to forward the names of the appointees for confirmation.

The confirmed appointees were the chairman, Engr. Dr Mohammed Sharu, commissioner of enforcement and consumer affairs, Engr. Dr Maiwada S. Bello, commissioner of licensing and regulations, and Dr Muhammad Ameen Shakur.

Others are the commissioners of rural electricity access management, Engr. Jiro Ahmed Mohammed and Adamu Nagogo, commissioner of finance and administration.
