Niger State House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2023 budget of N243 billion; N5 billion over N238 billion presented to the house by the Governor Abubakar Bello.
The House had received the report of the committee on appropriation presented by its chairman and member representing Wushishi constituency, Hon. Muhammed Bashir Lokogoma.
He said the committee recommended an additional N5 billion to the budget.
The committee chairman said the capital expenditure stood at N152 billion while the recurrent expenditure is N91 billion.
The committee chairman said the current budget structure is complicated and has made it difficult to trace a particular capital allocation for scrutiny.
After the presentation, the house unanimously adopted the report of the committee and urged the executive arm to lay the budget before the house at least three months before the end of the year for proper scrutiny.
