Niger First Lady, Etsu Nupe Reiterate Commitment To Girl Child Education

The wife of  Niger State governor, Hajiya Fatima Bago, has reiterated that the administration of her husband is committed to enhancing the capacities of Women and investing in girl child education.

She made this known at  the 50th Anniversary of the Federal Government Girls College, FGGC Bida Niger State organised by the Old Girls Association.

Hajiya Bago, an alumna of the school, applauded the group for the initiative and revealed that her husband is passionate about girls’ education.

She said “This institution has profoundly shaped the lives of countless women who have passed through its gates, equipping them to excel academically and become leaders across various fields in Nigeria and beyond—my four sisters included.”

“I reaffirmed the commitment of my husband, His Excellency Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago, to ensure that every girl, regardless of her background, has access to quality education to reach her full potential.”  She expressed  support for  initiatives that empower the girl child to thrive.

Also speaking, the Etsu Nupe and chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, assured that the traditional institution will not relent in their effort to complement the growth of education at all levels while commending those who  contributed to the development of girl-child education, particularly in the Federal Government Girls College Bida.

The Global President of the Association, Mrs Hilda Nkor  said they were working tirelessly to reciprocate what they got from the school to the younger ones, saying, “Here is to another 50 years of creating magic, memories, and milestones. Together, we will keep creating greatness for the girl child.”

The first head girl of the school, Mrs Vivian Abii, pointed out that the institution has shaped and moulded the lives of thousands of girls who today have turned to women of substance and that the group has successfully renovated structures in the school and equipped the library with state-of-the-art facilities.

 

 

The principal of the  FGGC Bida, Mrs Omolola Abimbola Ilegbemi expressed gratitude to the old girls and called on them as well as wealthy individuals not to relent efforts towards maintaining the college as a centre of excellence.
