Niger State government has generated N5 billion of the N8 billion targeted for the 2026 fiscal year through land administration while 17 have been revoked.
The commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barr. Bello Ahmad Agwara, disclosed this yesterday in Minna, the state cpaital.
He said land administration and survey in Niger State had been reengineered towards improving revenue generation.
Agwara said about 17 lands have been revoked by the state government due to the inability to put them to the purpose for which they were acquired.
He said of the 17 revoked lands, 10 were from the Suleja, Gurara and Tafa axis, while the remaining seven were from the Kontagora area of Niger North.
The commissioner said the land revocation was done in accordance with the provisions of the Land Use Act, which empowers the governor to revoke or acquire land for projects that will serve public interest.
On the controversy trailing the acquisition of land in Dikko near Suleja to build solar power plant; the commissioner said the acquisition to build the power plant was within the ambit of the law.
Agwara said the state government had made the process of obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) easy and seamless through technological innovation, encouraging the people to take advantage of it and apply online.
Asked on the proposed Government House at Zuma Rock, he explained that the state government had no plans to build a government house in Suleja but a government lodge for easy administration.
