Ahead of local government elections in November this year, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has approved the appointment of the chairman and seven permanent commissioners of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC).
The appointment was announced by the chief press secretary to the Governor Bologi Ibrahim yesterday.
LEADERSHIP however gathered that Bago had earlier sent an executive correspondence to the Niger State House of Assembly on the composition of the State Independent Electoral Commission as required by law.
Consequently by the statement, Engr. Mohammed Jibrin Imam, will serve as the chairman; Barr. M.A. Liman as the permanent commissioner I; Nasiru Ubandiya; permanent commissioner II; and Yahaya Idris Abara as permanent commissioner III.
Others are, Capt. Mohammed Baro permanent commissioner IV, Kabiru Tanko Zama as permanent commissioner V, Barr. Amina Guar permanent commissioner VI, and Barr. Ahmed Borgu as permanent commissioner VII.
The governor said the appointees, who are to be responsible for the conduct of Local Government Elections, were appointed based on their track records.
He tasked them to discharge their duties fairly and justly while placing the overall interest of the State above theirs.
The governor explained that their appointments are subject to confirmation by the State House of Assembly .
