Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has cautioned politicians in Kagara not to compromise the relative peace achieved in the Emirate.
LEADERSHIP reported that Kalgara has witnessed three major security breaches in the past: the abduction of students at Kalgara Science College, the Abduction of Pupils at Tegina Islamic School and the abduction of passengers along Tegina Road in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The governor, who was elated by the relative peace in the areas when he visited yesterday, said it was important that the people play politics without violence, as leadership lies with Allah, and He gives to whom He chooses.
The governor noted that the security agencies and the Emirate Council had done well in curtailing the activities of informants and terrorists in the Emirate and that his administration would not allow politics of bitterness to destroy the progress recorded.
He used the forum to reassure the people that work on the 10 km and 5 km road projects would soon resume and that the fencing of the Kagara general hospital would also be completed in no distant time.
The governor revealed that a new Government Science College, Kagara, will be constructed, as the military is currently occupying the school as their base, which he said will be reconstructed for them, adding that a mini airport will also be constructed around there to ease movement and tighten the security of the Emirate.
The governor, therefore, appreciated the Emir for consistently supporting his administration with wise counsel and assured him that the Emirate will continue to benefit from his administration’s programmes and policies.
He charged the people of the Emirate to remain patient with one another and to support leaders and security agencies to sustain the relative peace being experienced in the Emirate.
The Emir of Kagara, Alh. Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II appreciated the governor for the visit and acknowledged his remarkable efforts in stemming the tide of insecurity in the Emirate, which has led to the restoration of the traditional horse-riding festival during Sallah celebrations, to farmers returning to their farms, and to improved socioeconomic activities.
