Niger Governor Advocates Skills–Driven Economy

Niger State governor Mohammed Bago has advocated the need for a skills-driven economy rather than the desperation for acquisition of certificates.

The governor stated this when he received members of the Independent State-based Peace Architecture (ISPA) also known as the Niger Peace Committee at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna yesterday.

He said  people must  be productive in order to help in boosting the nation’s economy, and stressed the need for stakeholders to preach at places of worship on the need to return to productivity through avenues like agriculture and other aspects of the economy that would enhance people’s lives.

The governor who appreciated the efforts of the National peace Committee and the Kukah Centre in ensuring peaceful co-existence among Nigerians described lack of tolerance among some people as troubling, and called for the need to reintegrate moral values into the system where people will have love for one another irrespective of tribe or religion.

The governor reaffirmed that his administration was always supportive of initiatives that ensure peaceful coexistence and directed the Secretary to the State Government to work closely with the peace committee in providing a suitable location for establishment of their office as well as assist them with a vehicle.
