Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has stated that his administration would soon commence ward development projects across the state.
The projects were initiated by the Peoples Democratic Party and were last implemented under former governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu.
The governor stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Government House Minna yesterday.
He said the initiative was aimed at bringing government closer to the people and would engender rapid development, especially at the grassroots.
He said committees would be set up in that regard to ensure successful implementation while, stressing the need for the APC leadership in the state to organise town hall meetings where critical stakeholders would interact with the people to know their plight in order to address them.
The governor appreciated the leadership and all members of the APC in the state for their support to his New Niger Agenda and enjoined them to continue to unite for the development of the party in particular and the state in general.
On insecurity in some parts of the state, he described the situation as worrisome, but that his government was not relenting, but was making frantic efforts to address the situation.
Ward Development Projects are schemes initiated by former governor Babangida Aliyu where stakeholders from across political parties in each of the wards initiate development projects to be funded by the government.
