Niger Labour Cancels Workers’ Day Parade

As Niger State organised labour shelved Workers’ Day parade in honour of two past chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) who died recently, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago acknowledged the role of labour in nation building and assured them on the new minimum wage.

Labour had announced that in contrast to the usual parade, the state council of NLC will hold a lecture and special prayer session in honour of its late chairmen, Comrade Adams Erena and Comrade Yahaya Idris Ndako.

Meanwhile, the governor in a message through his chief press secretary Bologi Ibrahim, applauded the organised labour officials and the entire workers in the state for their resilience and understanding in the face of the harsh economy and security challenges bedeviling the state.

He acknowledged the significant role of workers in nation-building, describing civil servants as pivotal to the policy implementation of any administration.

Bago observed that a vibrant workforce is essential and critical to achieving good governance while expressing the determination of his administration to continue to evolve strategies to make the civil service more efficient and effective service delivery.

On the new minimum wage and other welfare of workers, the governor assured them of his commitment, as he maintained that the provision of a conducive working environment for better performance would not be compromised.
