Following alleged false information that led to the raiding of the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) situation room, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling party are trading words over alleged discoveries at the situation room.
While the state PDP chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji said the discoveries made showed that APC had incriminating items at the building in variance to the position of the police that nothing was found, the APC campaign director of strategic communication, Abdulberqy Ebbo dismissed the position of the party.
The PDP chairman alleged that discoveries made by their findings indicated that the last and next elections have been jeopardized and the situation room should be sealed off until the investigation is concluded and made public.
He told journalists in Minna yesterday that “To pick on an issue that arose yesterday, in a place called situation room of APC at Mamman kolo street A’ Aryan school, Computers were found, voter registrars, BVAS and APC stalwarts were found there, police raided there and discoveries were made.”
Beji said police should hasten the investigation into what was discovered and why corp members were allegedly kept there.
He said, in most polling units, BVAS were not used in the last election and security agents were not found, alleging that INEC staff were compromised during the last election.
“We have it on record that plans are being made by APC to use ad-hoc and security in the next election, we are ready to match every such action in the next election,” he said.
In his reaction to this accusations, Ebbo noted that the said situation room was established since 2016 and has been used by the party for previous elections in the state adding that the intentions for establishing the room were not for “dubious electoral purposes.”
