Senator representing Niger South Senatorial District Peter Jiya Ndalikali yesterday distributed five trucks of fertiliser free to his constituents to help them in the farming season and boost food security in the country.

Senator Peter Ndalikali said that the gesture was to boost food supplies and security in the country.
He stated that the occupation of most of the people in his constituency was farming, thus they needed inputs like fertiliser while positing that the economic challenges Nigerians were going through would be reduced to the barest minimum if there was an increase in food production.

Ndalikali also added that with an excess supply of food, the price would be easily controlled as the five trucks of fertiliser contained 600 bags of fertiliser, adding he has tried to get the best fertiliser that suits the farmers in his senatorial district in both Urea and NPK categories.

“Nigerians are complaining of low salaries. The salary is low because food is expensive. But how can we attack the value of money? The value of money can only be attacked if there is a cheaper way of producing food,” he declared.

The senator therefore urged the people of Niger South to engage in agriculture in order to boost the food supply chain for economic prosperity and expressed delight that Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has prioritised agriculture.

The senator said he would try to get more trucks of fertiliser to the farmers during dry season farming, including grains.
