Niger State Government has received N100 million as a redeemed pledge of the House of Representatives for the victims of the Dikko Junction tanker explosion.
This is coming amid disquiet from the families of the victims of the explosion, who alleged that they have been abandoned.
Some of the victims have told LEADERSHIP that they have not received any central assistance since some measures of grains were given.
In a show of concern, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, presented 10 cheques of N10 million each to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago as pledged earlier.
The governor said the donation demonstrates love, commitment, and empathy to the government and people of the State, particularly the disaster victims.
He assured that the donation will get to the families of the victims through the Niger State Disaster Management funds.
The Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, explained that the donation was in fulfilment of the promise made by the House of Representatives during its condolence visit made to the Niger State government over the unfortunate fire disaster that claimed several lives and property.
He said the donation may not be sufficient, but it represents their love and concern for the people in agony.
The Speaker stressed that the House of Representatives will continue to identify with the State government and the Governor, particularly in bringing succour to the people.
