According to him, the nation’s journey over the last 64 years has been marked by achievements and challenges while the unity of this country has been constantly tested by political, economic and social upheavals.

He pointed out that the nation has faced civil conflict, regional tensions, economic recessions, and political instability yet, Nigeria remains an indivisible nation bound together by the collective hope for a better future and the understanding that its strength lies in diversity.

“This year’s Independence celebration, however, comes at a time that we are faced with economic hardship, insecurity and other criminal activities. This has caused untold pain to many across the nation,” he noted.

Governor Mutfwang who admitted the daily struggles of the people, assured of his commitment to finding lasting solutions that will bring relief to the people of the state.

“We are currently working on policies and programmes in several sectors, including agriculture, transportation, education, healthcare and other aspects of economic development to alleviate the impact of the economic downturn. While these solutions may take time, I appeal to you for patience and understanding as we put measures in place to cushion the effects of this crisis.

“The road to recovery is challenging, but I am confident that, together, we will prevail. My team and I are resolute in our determination to transform Plateau State. We must rebuild the foundations that have been gradually eroded and chart a new way going forward,” Muftwang said.

The governor further urged the citizens to maintain their trust in his government’s efforts in this difficult time, assuring that government was not resting on its oars in the commitment to restoring security and peace to every part of the state.

“Our security agencies are working tirelessly, and progress is being made in the fight against insecurity. We will continue to prioritise your safety and well-being, and I ask for your continued cooperation as we tackle these issues head-on,” he said.

Governor Muftwang further stated that while reflecting on the country’s 64 years of independence, Nigerians should not lose sight of the fact that despite the challenges, the country has remained one strong and united nation with full potential.
