The managing director of Solid Unit Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu (Dan-China) has said that Nigeria’s current economic challenges, including inflation and declining purchasing power, require a shift from over-dependence on government to individual and community-driven productivity.
He emphasised self-reliance, agricultural development and collective responsibility as key drivers of sustainable growth.
Dan-China made these assertions during an interaction with newsmen at his residence in Jos, the Plateau State capital .
The MD, who is also Bauchi State APC governorship aspirant, noted that many Nigerians have adjusted to mere survival due to economic hardship, stressing that meaningful development can only be achieved when the citizens actively contribute to nation-building.
On mining, Dan-China insisted that although Nigeria is rich in mineral resources, poor regulation, illegal mining, and lack of local processing have limited its economic benefits.
He, therefore, called for stricter enforcement of regulations and value addition within the country, adding that no single individual can solve Nigeria’s problems.
The aspirant described agriculture as a major untapped opportunity, lamenting that despite Nigeria’s vast fertile land, poor planning and weak implementation had hindered its potential.
“Our population is growing, yet we continue to manage resources with outdated systems. That approach is no longer sustainable,” he said
The aspirant said if elected as governor, his administration would prioritise grassroots productivity, particularly by engaging youths in agriculture and reducing reliance on white-collar jobs.
Dan-China also expressed concern over rising insecurity, linking it to economic hardship and unemployment.
“Insecurity thrives when the economy is weak. Communities must take part in safeguarding their environment while government strengthens its structures,” he said.
He called for stronger community involvement in security management, noting that local participation is critical given the country’s large population and limited security personnel.
