The Federal Government of Nigeria and Google have advanced discussions toward a structured strategic partnership focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital governance.
This was disclosed on the official Facebook page of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a meeting between the Foreign Affairs Minister, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, and Google’s Regional Director for Government Affairs and Public Policy in Sub-Saharan Africa, Charles Murito, in Abuja, on Tuesday.
Their discussions built on earlier exchanges at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
The engagement focused on three strategic priorities: deepening long-term collaboration beyond digital infrastructure, institutionalising AI skills and knowledge transfer, and strengthening anticipatory diplomacy tools to enhance information integrity and democratic resilience.
The Ministry stated that technical teams from both sides will continue working to define clear, implementable outcomes at the intersection of AI, governance, and regional stability.
