The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, has reassured Nigerians that the country still has a strong chance of securing a spot in the World Cup playoffs, despite DR Congo being listed among the participating teams.

Speaking at an event in Abuja on Friday, Dikko explained that DR Congo’s inclusion by FIFA does not mean Nigeria’s official protest over the qualification process has been dismissed.

He noted that the matter is still under review by an independent FIFA panel, and no final decision has been made.

“In any legal process, you are presumed innocent until proven otherwise. The case is ongoing, and the judge hasn’t ruled,” Dikko said.

He added that the Nigeria Football Federation has submitted a strong complaint and that the final lineup for the playoffs will depend on the panel’s decision. Until then, all teams must continue their preparations.
