A 34-year-old Nigerian man has been apprehended following suspicions of drug possession at his residence in Wisteria Street, Flora Park, Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa.

According to South Africa’s news platform, Independent Online, also known as IOL, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the provincial police spokesperson in Limpopo, reported that the Provincial Organized Crime Unit received information about a Nigerian man involved in drug activities at his residence in Wisteria Street, Flora Park.

Acting on this tip-off, the police went to the address and found the suspect packaging drugs, leading to his immediate arrest.

During the operation, law enforcement seized a significant quantity of illicit substances. They confiscated seven large plastic bags containing heroin, 18 sachets of crystal meth, and 15 tablets of mandrax, estimated to have a street value of around R75,000.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial police commissioner in Limpopo, praised the arrest, acknowledging the diligent efforts of the police in combating drug trafficking in the province.

The 34-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court to face charges related to drug possession and distribution.

This arrest comes after a recent incident involving the interception of a 56-year-old man travelling from Pretoria to Limpopo with drugs. Last month, the individual was caught with loose sachets containing heroin drugs valued at R12,000 and was promptly arrested by members of the South African Police Service Organized Crime Unit.
