Nigerian Aquatic Federation Trains 50 Coaches Across Nigeria

The National Sports Commission, through the Nigerian Aquatic Federation, in collaboration with the African Aquatic, organised training for 50 coaches across the country with a team, “Africa Level 2 Coaching Clinic 2025”.

A statement signed by Patricia Nnandi,NSC media department, said all swimming coaches in Nigeria are ready to take the coaching game to the next level as the Nigeria Aquatic Federation (NAqF) and World Aquatics join forces to host a Level 2 Coaching Clinic. This highly anticipated event is taking place at the prestigious Moshood Abiola International Stadium (MKO) in Abuja and is led by renowned coach and facilitator Cedric Finch.

Mallam Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, in his statement, appreciated the Secretary of the Federation, Mr. Oriss Taiwo, for this milestone, which he said is geared towards enhancing the development of sports in Nigeria.

The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, commended the efforts put in place to achieve this feat. He said, “This collaboration signifies the imminent advancement and revitalisation of the sports sector, ensuring that it garners the necessary attention and support it deserves. We look forward to the possible impact that this collaboration will bring to the Aquatic Federation in our country.

Speaking earlier, Chief Mrs Chinonye Daphey Aliyu, the President of the Nigeria Aquatic Federation, who shared the purpose behind organising this event, explained, “Our goal is to equip coaches across the nation with the necessary skills and keep them updated with the latest trends and regulations in the sport.”

She also admonished the coaches that the coaching clinic covers a wide range of topics, including advanced techniques, training methodologies, and sports psychology,

Mr. Cendric Finch, the expert course facilitator, in one of his lectures on train to train “, said it is a critical stage of training, and one of the important physical attributes will be shaped over the next 4 to 5 years. This is the window of opportunity to train stamina, Speed, and strength in addition to maintaining the ABCS and exploring further specific swimming skills. This stage, he said, is about building the engine.

 

Mr. Cedric argued that,
