Jimmy Akingbola, an English television, theatre and film actor in his interview sometime in February, 2023, expressed how excited and overwhelmed he was purchasing Ayegbayo Damola artworks and how beautiful they all look hanging on the walls in his home.
“I was so happy to see the artwork of Ayegbayo Damola hanging on my wall, After purchasing the artwork I tried to put a call through to the artist and I spoke to him about some of my upcoming projects which I will love to get the Nigerian artist featured in my upcoming project in a movie”
Nigerian artist Ayegbayo purchased work titled “vision on hope” was shown hanging on the wall during the The titled move “HANDLE WITH CARE” BY JIMMY AKINGBOLA documentary.
According to an interview he granted, He was inspired to paint the portrait of an African girl, so people could see life through her lens. And envisage it from a disadvantaged, underprivileged child growing up in a world that doesn’t care about them.
In Ayegbayo pictures “Every child regardless of their background has the right to Education, grow up in a healthy environment, proper feeding and agriculture, clean water, adequate medical program, economical development, skilled programs, All these bring immediate and lasting solutions to children and families living in extreme poverty and provides a greater future.”
The artist made use of his art as a voice for all those underprivileged children, to the governments and other civil organizations who have a moral responsibility to stand up and be counted, that time is now.
Also amongst his notable artwork featured titled “strength in diversity”
He was inspired to paint the artwork so as to show how we tends to loose a lot when we are divided probably because we are from different parts of the country or the world.
Inside our differences lies a strong force that can never be defeated or conquered by anyone or a political leader.
The piece preaches love within different race, ethnic groups, tribes and countries at large, to live together with love and unity and not allow anyone use our differences against us!.
The Nigerian contemporary artist, Ayegbayo has had various international features and partnerships with reputable and well known publishers in the UK and USA where his artworks were used as book covers.
Notably, HarperCollins Publishers LLC USA featured his painting “unconditional love series 2” as a book cover title ‘Relations an anthology of African and Diaspora voices a book written by Nana Ekua Brew Hammond
His work titled “purpose of existence” A private collection and also a cover art for a campaign to support and promoting black women’s mental health in 2022 by the Cambridge University Press United Kingdom.
The Visual Artist and a Painter, studied in Obafemi Awolowo University, from the Department of Fine and Applied Arts where he specialized in painting. He grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. His childhood was basic, like normal every other kid.
Going by publications interview he granted, He said being an artist wasn’t planned because of several career fantasy. At some point, he wanted to be an entrepreneur with a big firm like Aliko Dangote.
Ayegbayo becoming a professional artist wasn’t something he just woke-up one morning and decided on. This was because he already had the skill and the talent. He studied Fine and applied arts in school to become a professional painter and not just an artist because he had majored in painting.
Ayegbayo was also inspired by his late grandfather who was a painter, sculptor and ceramist from a tender age. He was a Visual Artist with a demonstrated history of working in the arts and crafts industry. Skilled in Paintings and Drawings.
It’s safe to say that he has successfully carved a niche for himself as a Visual artist and a Painter in the Nigerian art space.
