Nigerian Navy Rebuilds, Renovates School In Adamawa

The Nigerian Navy has renovated a school, provided chair and solar power as part of efforts to improve security aimed at strengthening military and civil relationship in Adamawa State.

Central Primary School, Mayo-Belwa benefited from the renovation of six blocks of classrooms, constructed toilet facilities and solar power to facilitate teaching and learning for students.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, during the inauguration  of the project said that the intervention was under a special scheme established by the Navy to give back to society with a view to also contributing its quota in transforming  communities.

Represented by the Director, Veterans Affairs, Rear Admiral Raheem Taofeek, Abbas explained that the project was in line with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and was executed by Rear Admiral Abdulhamid Baba-inna, the Navy Secretary, in his hometown, Mayo-belwa.

He urged members of the community to ensure judicious use of the facilities, urging them to guard it jealously for the maximum benefit of all.

He reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Navy under his watch to live up to its responsibilities of protecting and defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria and work in synergy with other security agencies in the country to nip the current security challenges bedeviĺing the country in the bud.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Baba-Inna said the project was to improve or provide a conducive learning atmosphere for the pupils and their teachers.

According to him, the classes and offices were provided with tables and chairs as well as the solar power light to enhance safety and security in the school.

Baba-Inna urged the pupils and teachers to take ownership of the project for maximum benefit.

In his remarks, Mr Adiyal Kurdah, member 1 Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board (ADSUBEB), expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Navy for such a project.

He said the project would significantly improve enrollment, retention and quality education in the area.

In his remarks, the District Head of Mayo-Belwa, Alhaji Ardo Bamanga, described the project as a good legacy that would help to shape the character of children to be responsible citizens in the future.

He assured them of the traditional rulers’ readiness to partner with them and give them all the necessary support needed to succeed in the discharge of their responsibilities.
