The latest data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the 2024 Henley Passport Index ranks the Nigerian passport 95th of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations its holders can access without a prior visa.

The index compared the visa-free access of 199 different passports to 227 travel destinations. If no visa is required, then a score with value = 1 is created for that passport.

According to the report, Nigerian passport holders require visas to visit 181 destinations.

The Nigerian passport ranks worse than its West African neighbours; Ghana, Benin and Togo which ranked 76th, 79th and 83rd respectively.

South Africa ranks 53rd worldwide as its passport holders can travel to 108 destinations visa-free.
