Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Education has officially opened the application window for the Slovakia National Scholarship Program for the academic year 2024/2025.
This initiative aims to support Nigerian postgraduates interested in pursuing Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Slovakia.
Taking to its official X page on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the Ministry said the scholarship opportunity underscores the Nigerian government’s commitment to advancing the educational aspirations of its citizens abroad. The program, designed for students seeking advanced degrees, promises to alleviate the financial burden by covering living expenses and providing travel allowances.
“Qualified and interested Nigerians are encouraged to visit www.scholarships.sk for detailed information on eligibility criteria and scholarship benefits,” it stated.
Applications must be submitted online by April 30, 2024, the Ministry noted, adding that for further inquiries, applicants can reach out to the contact number provided by the Ministry.
Eligibility for the scholarship extends to university students outside Slovakia who are in their second level of higher education (Master’s students) or have completed at least 2.5 years of university studies in a similar program and are accepted by a higher education institution in Slovakia. PhD candidates, as well as international university teachers, researchers, and artists planning a stay in Slovakia for academic mobility, teaching, research, or artistic endeavors, are also eligible.
Applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae, a motivation letter, a detailed study program, two recommendation letters from university teachers, and, if applicable, a bachelor’s diploma with a diploma supplement and state examination certificate.
The Slovakia National Scholarship Program, established in 2005 by the Government of the Slovak Republic, aims to foster the mobility of students, researchers, and artists. It is supported by the Slovak Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport, highlighting the country’s dedication to international academic and cultural exchange.
