16-year-old autistic artist and current Guinness World Record holder, Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, is embarking on an ambitious cycling expedition across Nigeria, aiming to secure a second world record. This national endeavour, dubbed #RideWithKanye, seeks to significantly elevate autism awareness and champion inclusion throughout the nation.

The initiative, a collaboration between the Kanyechukwu Autism Society Foundation, the Lagos State government, and the National Sports Commission, was officially launched at the weekend, with the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende and other top dignitaries in attendance.

The cycling challenge is set to commence in Enugu and culminate in Lagos on 2nd April 2026, strategically coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day. Organisers have stated that the project’s core mission is to foster understanding and promote the inclusion of individuals with autism through widespread public engagement.

Mr. Ogunlende affirmed the Lagos State Government’s full institutional backing for the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the state’s comprehensive THEMES Plus development agenda. He commended the expedition for its unique blend of sport, advocacy, and social inclusion.

Kanyeyachukwu, who previously achieved a Guinness World Record for creating the world’s largest art canvas by an individual, views this cycling feat as a crucial step in broader efforts to encourage acceptance and understanding for autistic people. His father expressed that the journey embodies a profound belief in expanding opportunities for those living with autism.

The meticulously planned route will traverse Enugu, Anambra, Delta, Ogun, and Lagos states, with special reception events scheduled in each location. These events will feature a range of activities, including autism awareness programmes, complimentary medical consultations and developmental screenings, youth-focused sports engagements, and various community interactions.

The grand finale in Lagos on 2nd April is poised to be a pivotal part of World Autism Awareness Day celebrations and will be delivered in partnership with Spark a Spectrum, a prominent United States-based autism advocacy organisation.

Key supporting partners for this impactful campaign include the Cycling Federation of Nigeria, which has generously assigned 20 professional cyclists to accompany Kanyeyachukwu, alongside Cyclology Cycling Club and Koyo HealthTech.

A primary objective of the campaign, as outlined by the foundation, is to raise vital funds to facilitate the training of 1,000 caregivers across Nigeria. This training will equip them with essential skills to effectively support autistic children and adolescents within their homes, schools, and local communities.
