The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) has officially disowned a planned national Special convention and elective congress purportedly scheduled to hold in Abuja from July 29 to 31, 2025.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja by the BoT secretary, Alhaji Abdu Mohammed, the board warned the public against involvement with the event organisers, describing them as unknown individuals acting without authorisation.

He emphasised that the board has not authorised any person or group, regardless of their name or affiliation, to organise such a convention on behalf of the Nigerian Youth Congress.

“By the Constitution of the Nigerian Youth Congress, only the Board of Trustees (BOT) is empowered to convene any National Special Convention and Elective Congress,” the statement read.

The BOT further condemned the publication of the event as the handiwork of fraudsters and scammers attempting to deceive Nigerians under the guise of the Nigerian Youth Congress.

Therefore, the Board dissociates itself completely from the purported National Special Convention and Elective Congress, urging the public to exercise caution and avoid engaging with the unauthorised organisers.
