Leaders of the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) have commended the president of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, for building a refinery to help solve the problems associated with petroleum products.

In a statement issued by its president-general, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, yesterday, the group comprising of leaders of youth organisations from the six geo-political zones of Nigeria, said by establishing the refinery, Dangote had shown that he is a patriotic Nigerian.

They stated further that with the refinery, Dangote demonstrated that he was different from other Nigerian businessmen and women who took their investments abroad.

“The refinery will solve the problem of high cost of goods and services as the production from the plant will reduce the price of fuel, kerosene and other petroleum products.

“It will help stabilize the naira as the nation gets foreign earnings from the sale of fuel and other petroleum products from the refinery”, the youth leaders statement reads further.

The youth leaders also expressed happiness that when the refinery begins operations, the demand for the dollar and other foreign currencies will reduce while the demand for the naira will increase, allowing it to compete favourably with the currencies of other nations.

They called on all stakeholders to support the Dangote Refinery to ensure that it functions at total capacity as doing otherwise will chase away local and foreign investors from the country.

“Prospective foreign investors will find it difficult to invest in Nigeria if our own investment is not allowed to operate and function. The nation will be seen as a no-go area for investments. We should give Dangote Refinery all the necessary support needed to succeed for the interest of our dear nation”, the youth leaders said.
