Industrialist and founder of Premier Lotto Limited, Sir Kensington Adebutu, has urged philanthropists to assist in the funding of education in Nigeria, to secure the future of the people.

Adebutu, gave the admonition when the Old Girls Association of Methodist Girls High School, Yaba, commissioned a multipurpose hall, which consists of classrooms, a laboratory, and hostel, named after the late Dame Caroline Oladunni Adebutu.

He eulogised the Association for the recognition bestowed on the Late Dame Adebutu, in naming the hall after her, with a pledge that the family will carry on supporting the noble cause and philanthropy act to better the society at large.

Adebutu however reiterated that government cannot provide all that is needed in the educational sector alone, as it requires partnership with individuals and private bodies to help provide educational materials and equipment that will raise the standard of the students churned out in various schools.

President, Old Girls Association of Methodist Girls High School, Maj Gen.Tilewa Amusu, disclosed that, the Association, in her quest to give back to their alma mater, has commissioned the multipurpose hall.

Amusu described the multipurpose hall as a legacy project, which will transcend to those coming after them, hence the need to treasure it. “This building is a heritage that the old girls are bequeathing to future generations. It is our way of using our resources for the benefit of those coming after us. It is a legacy project because the old girls who have come together to build this would not sit in the classrooms, laboratories, studios, and counseling rooms to learn or be guided. I urged students of this great school to treasure it,” she stated.

In his remarks, Archbishop of Lagos Mainland, Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Rev. Obafemi Adeleye, recognized the effort of the Old Girls Association for their commitment towards the betterment of their alma mater, while also expressing his gratitude to the family of Adebutu for their generous deed in completing the first phase of the giant project.
