The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has declared that Nigeria’s adversaries will soon experience the full impact of the new techniques and procedures being implemented by the Nigerian Army.
Oluyede stated this yesterday in Bauchi during a firepower demonstration exercise at the Victor Kure Armour Range, marking the conclusion of the 2025 Combat Arms Training Week (CAT).
Represented by Major General Henry Wesley, Commander of the Ordnance Corps, Oluyede emphasised that the federal government had procured significant equipment and weaponry to strengthen the fight against insurgency and terrorism.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Army are working relentlessly to ensure that the changes promised to Nigerians are visibly reflected on the battlefield.
“This event is vital as it demonstrates our capacity. We’ve reviewed our strategies, operations, and tactics. Ultimately, these must be seen in action, and that’s why we brought all participants here to witness our current operational capabilities,” COAS noted.
COAS further said the Army had discussed strategy and practised newly introduced doctrines alongside soldiers and junior commanders.
“You can expect to see a shift in operational dynamics very soon. The enemies may not be here physically, but they will surely feel the impact. Equipment is already being deployed, some in the field, others still en route,” he added.
General Oluyede stressed that the firepower demonstration is crucial in showcasing the Army’s evolving capability to carry out its operations effectively.
For his part, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, Commander of the Armoured Corps, noted that the week-long training served as a platform to deliberate on challenges facing combat arms operations and broader issues affecting the Nigerian Army.
He praised the dedication of officers and soldiers in attendance, including retired senior officers who witnessed the firepower display.
