Nigeria’s U-17 Volleyballers Bounce Back, Defeat Cameroon 3-1

Nigeria’s U-17 female volleyball team emerged victorious in their second match of the 2023 Girl’s U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship, defeating their Cameroonian counterparts 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-22) at the Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Despite losing the first set 19-25, the Nigerian girls displayed remarkable resilience, clawing back to win the remaining three sets. Their determination and fighting spirit shone through as they secured a crucial victory.

Coach of Nigeria’s team, Sunday Akapson, commended his players’ performance but urged them to remain focused and determined as they continue their journey in the tournament. “We cannot jubilate yet because we still have matches to play,” he cautioned.

Nigeria’s victory over Cameroon marks a significant step forward in their campaign. They will now face Cameroon again in the semi-finals on Wednesday, hoping to secure a place in the final and claim the coveted title.

The 2023 Girl’s U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship, which kicked off on Saturday, is expected to conclude on December 8th. With Nigeria’s impressive performance, the tournament promises to be an exciting and closely contested affair.
