The director general, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, has felicitated with Nigerians h within and outside the country on the occasion of Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary.
In a statement, Sulaiman expressed pride in Nigeria’s progress and the growing influence of its citizens across the world.
He urged his Nigerians to take stock of their blessings and draw inspiration from them as they move forward.
Highlighting the enduring unity of Nigeria despite its diverse cultures, languages and religious beliefs, Prof. Sulaiman emphasised the need for continued efforts to realise the dreams of Nigeria’s founding fathers who fought to end colonial rule over six decades ago.
The director general stressed the importance of recognising Nigeria’s vast potential and the collective responsibility of its citizens in achieving greatness.
He underlined NILDS’s commitment to providing legislative support for initiatives aimed at making Nigeria a source of pride.
Prof. Sulaiman announced NILDS’s recent move to its state-of-the-art permanent site, emphasizing the Institute’s vision to become the premier legislative support institution not only in the sub-region but across Africa and beyond.
He reaffirmed NILDS’s dedication to ensuring legislative frameworks that align with government actions and responsive to societal needs.
The National Assembly Leadership retreat in Akwa Ibom State and the alignment of legislative agendas with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “8-Point Agenda” and “Renewed Hope” mantra were cited as significant steps toward improving the lives of Nigerians.
