The director general of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abuja, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, has urged Nigerian youths to shun cultism and other social vices, which can truncate their careers and ruin their lives.
Sulaiman gave the admonition during the Harmony Day celebration held at the University of Abuja by members of the National Association of Kwara State Sudents( NAKSS).
Represented by his media aide, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Sulaiman said it is worrisome that some misguided youths were indulging in political violence and other social vices capable of truncating their futures.
He tasked members of NAKSS to be in the vanguard of fighting the menace of drug addiction, cultism, hooliganism and politically induced lawlessness in Kwara State.
He reminded the students to remain good ambassadors of the state, both in learning and character, assuring them of his continuous support.
Meanwhile, the Ilorin Emirate Students Union(IESU), University of Abuja chapter, has conferred an honorary award on the NILDS chief executive.
The IESU president, Jimoh Abolaji, said the award was in recognition of Sulaiman’s unquantifiable contributions to the development of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State as a whole.
