NIMASA Donates Security Gadgets To Adamawa State Over Insecurity

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Nigerian Marítime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), over the weekend, donated various security gadgets to the government to tackle insecurity.

Items such as helmets, tear gas canisters, Knives, Computers and food items such as Beans, maize, rice, Yams among others were presented to the government of Adamawa State.

Speaking in Yola, the state capital, at the one-day capacity building workshop for security stakeholders organised by NIMASA, the director general of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh, called on all the stakeholders in the state to actively participate and proffer solutions to insecurity in the state and county at large.

Jamoh who was represented by assistant chief Public Relations Officers, Hajiya Sadiqa Umar, said that NIMASA can only operate successful with the contribution of security agency, hence, the need for all to contribute toward achieving the desired objective.

“The effort of the agency is to augment the government effort in fighting insecurity in the state. This Initiative is, however, being done in all the 36 states of the federation,” Dr Jamoh stated.

Also speaking, the governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, appreciated NIMASA’s gesture in helping the state government fight insecurity, thereby, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to address security challenges by ensuring security of lives and properties in the state.

Fintiri who was represented by his security adviser, Senabi Crowther, said his administration in the last three years have done a lot which resulted for the relative peace being enjoy in the state.

He said that more gadget would be procured in detecting and tracking criminals especially the kidnappers apart from what was on ground.

He thanked and appreciated NIMASA for the workshop on the need to address the security challenges and changed the participants to be proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He appreciated the effort of the security agencies in the state and urged them to do more.

On his part, the executive secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Dr Muhammad Suleiman, pointed some of the security challenges in the state to include; kidnapping, Shila Boys and communal clashes.

“We are all stakeholders in making sure that there is security in our areas because security is everyone business and if there is no security no peace for development and progress”, he said.

He said that such a programme would at the end come up with recommendation and solutions to improve security situation in the state.

A security expert and consultant, Dr Musa Maigana, advocated for more synergy among the state and non state actors to ensure security of lives and properties.

He said that this would help in information gathering and information reporting to achieve the desired objective of ensuring security.

He further expressed the need for government to also have Independent security investigation for a positive result for the benefits of all Nigerians.
