The director general of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has emphasised the critical role of professionalism in engineering practice as a foundation for Nigeria’s maritime and Blue Economy development.

Dr. Mobereola made this remark while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), led by its president, Engineer Margaret Aina Oguntala, during a courtesy visit to NIMASA Management in Lagos.

He underscored the importance of engineering expertise in advancing Nigeria’s maritime infrastructure. He assured the NSE of NIMASA’s commitment to closer collaboration in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Blue Economy mandate.

In her remarks, Engr. Oguntala highlighted the NSE’s alignment with the Blue Economy initiative, noting that the Society’s vision complements government efforts to harness the vast opportunities in Nigeria’s marine and maritime sectors. She expressed confidence that strengthened cooperation between NSE and NIMASA would foster innovation, enhance infrastructure development, and contribute to sustainable economic growth.

The meeting concluded with both parties pledging to deepen collaboration for the benefit of the maritime sector and Nigeria’s economy.
