In his citation read by the organisers, Professor Anosike was honoured for his proactive efforts to transform NiMet within a short time. The citation also mentioned the agency’s valued contribution to various socio-economic sectors of the country through partnerships with local and international institutions.

The citation said, among other things, “We particularly note your agency’s issuance of early warnings aimed at preventing the loss of property, including farmlands, and lives, especially to floods across the country due to climate change, which is a threat multiplier.”
