The Nationwide League One (NLO) has indefinitely suspended Fire Service FC player Ezekiel Achem and several teammates following an assault on match officials and opposition coaches.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at the Area 3 sports complex after Fire Service FC’s 2-4 defeat to Galadima FC.
Achem is accused of leading the attack, which brought “disrepute to the game.” Other players implicated in the violence include Clement Emeka, Ayobami Akeem, and Chidozie Bartholomew, along with team official Mr. Chibe.
Their actions reportedly incited Fire Service supporters to join in the assault on individuals present at the complex.
Following an official report, the NLO has invoked Article 4:07, imposing indefinite suspensions on those identified pending a final decision by the Disciplinary Committee.
In a related development, the FCT Football Association has informed Fire Service FC management of the “horrific attack” on FA officials by their players and has stated that Fire Service FC will no longer be permitted to host matches at the Area 4 sport complex.
