Chairman of the NMA in Enugu State, Dr Sunday Okafor made the call at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the association held at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Enugu.

Okafor emphasised that there was urgent need for a law that will stop people from building gas outlets in residential areas as well as strict enforcement of the legislation.

He pointed out that gas burn is now one of the most dangerous accidents and more prevalent as the poor can now afford gas for use.

Okafor further explained that the aim of the conference with the theme: ‘Changing Burns Epidemiology With The Current Economic Realities’ was to brainstorm on ways to avert the health challenge.

“This Annual Scientific Conference and Non-Elective AGM happens to be our first since the emergence of the current State Officers’ Council (SOC), on 1st August, 2024.
