Inter Lagos responded impressively to their opening-day disappointment with a composed 2-0 victory over Ranchers Bees in their second match of the NNL Super Four in Ikenne.

After suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Doma United in their first outing, Inter Lagos entered the encounter under pressure to revive their campaign, and they delivered a disciplined and clinical performance to secure all three points.

The opening half was a tightly contested affair, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut opportunities. Ranchers Bees showed resilience defensively, while Inter Lagos looked threatening in flashes but were unable to break the deadlock before the interval as the teams went into the break level at 0-0.

Inter Lagos, however, emerged from the restart with renewed intensity and grabbed the breakthrough just two minutes into the second half. Forward Qoyum Akinpelu reacted quickest inside the penalty area before firing a powerful effort beyond the goalkeeper in the 47th minute to hand his side a deserved lead.

The goal lifted Inter Lagos, who gradually took control of proceedings and began to dictate the tempo of the match. Akinpelu nearly doubled his tally moments later after driving forward on a promising attack, but his decision to go alone instead of passing to the unmarked Bayo Oyedele saw the chance go begging as his effort drifted narrowly off target.

The pressure eventually paid off again in the 70th minute when Akinpelu was brought down inside the area after another dangerous attacking move. Team captain Bayo Oyedele stepped up confidently and converted the resulting penalty to extend Inter Lagos’ advantage to 2-0.

With a comfortable cushion, Inter Lagos managed the closing stages professionally, restricting Ranchers Bees to limited attacking opportunities while maintaining control of possession.

The victory breathes new life into Inter Lagos’ Super Four campaign and restores belief within the squad ahead of their final fixture. They will conclude their campaign on Friday with a highly anticipated Lagos derby against Sporting Lagos, a clash expected to provide another stern test as both sides battle to finish strongly in the competition.
