The Solid Miners, which won the championship’s opening match against El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri with a slim 1-0 victory on Saturday came from behind to beat Sokoto United 2-1 in the third match of day two of the championship and secured a quick return to the NPFL.

Sokoto United took a surprise lead at the early minutes of the first half, when Nasarawa United s defence line went flat, leaving striker Adama Kizito roam to slam the ball beyond goalkeeper.

But the Lafia based club responded almost immediately with an equalizer through Anas Yusuf, who was eventually adjudged the game’s Man of the Match
Nasarawa United however sealed the three points beyond Sokoto United, when Umar Ibrahim netted the winner during the second half of the game.

The victory however signals a joyous return to the elite league for Nasarawa United, who were relegated to the NNL after a poor run in the 2023 NPFL season
