The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Saturday visited the immediate past non executive director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited ( NNPCL), Dr Mohammed Ghali Alaaya in his GRA residence, Ilorin.
During the impromptu visit, the governor congratulated Ghali on his meritorious service at the NNPCL, calling him a quintessential progressive.
AbdulRazaq who poured encomiums on Ghali for his contributions to the development of Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole thanked him for restating his continued support for President Bola Tinubu and Kwara State government.
“Earlier today( Saturday) , I visited the Ilorin home of my brother and statesman, Dr. Muhammad Ghali Alaaya, to thank him for his meritorious service to our country as the immediate past non-executive member of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Board.
“Dr. Ghali, as he is fondly called, is a quintessential progressive whose support for good ideals predated 2019 . He is a man who always sees and embraces the greater good.
“My visit to him again revalidated these ideals as he restated his support for our administration and for Mr. President whom he commended for his love for Kwara State, which the appointment of the new NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari clearly underscores.
“We both prayed for the success of Mr. President and our brother, Engr. Bashir Ojulari.
“I wish Dr. Ghali Alaiya all the good things that life can offer, while thanking him for his genuine support for our administration and national development,” the governor said in a statement he personally signed.
Meanwhile, Kwara south youths have called on the newly appointed group chief executive officer of NNPCL), Engr. Bashir Ojulari and other federal appointees from the zone to use their offices for the development of the area.
The youths under the aegis of South Youths Development Organization (KWAYORG) made the call at a press conference, held at the Igbomina House, Ganmo in Ifelodun local government area of the state.
The president of KWAYORG, Prince Abolarin Alaba Dansharafa who addressed the newsmen was flanked by Kareem Adebowale, representing Ekiti youths, Pastor Ajibola Olugbenga , president, Igbomina Youths Assembly and Comrade Ahmed Hassan, representing Ibolo axis of Kwara south.
“To our appointees, we urge you all to use your positions to champion development, transparency, and fairness. Prioritise youth inclusion, engage the grassroots, and speak for the voiceless. We charge you to collaborate among yourselves through unity of purpose to bring home developmental projects and policies as patriotic sons of the soil,” Dansharafa said.
The youths expressed their gratitude to president Bola Tinubu for his far-sightedness, inclusive governance, and commitment to competence and for appointing eight notable indigenes of Kwara south into various positions of authority.
They said: “We gather here today to acknowledge, commend, celebrate, and give thanks for the wave of national appointments bestowed upon illustrious sons and daughters of Kwara South, who have demonstrated excellence, loyalty, competence and capacity. We express profound appreciation to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the President of Nigeria for his far-sightedness, inclusive governance, and commitment to competence.
” These appointments are a testament to merit and worthy leadership.
We acknowledge our Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,chairman of the Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum, whose influence and diplomacy have opened doors for Kwara Southerners.”
They listed the appointees from Kwara south to include Barr. Lateef Fagbemi, (SAN), Attorney General of the Federation and minister of Justice, Prof. Wale Sulaiman, pioneer pro-chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila Orangun, Osun State,Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, member, TETFund Board, Hon. AbdulGaniyu Zubair, member, Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Offa,Hon. Segun Adebayo,
executive secretary, NALDA, Hon. Charles Afolayan, coordinator, The Green Money Project, Engr. Bashir Ojulari, Group CEO of NNPCL and Barr. Lanre Falola Jimoh, federal commissioner, Public Complaints
Commission.
The press conference was attended by the representatives of Igbomina Youth Assembly, Ekiti Kwara Youth Navigator, Ibolo Youth Development Association,Amoyo Elite Group,Ganmo Youth Association and Kwara South Students Union.
