A group known as Progressive Ambassadors for APC Projects, PA-APC has called on the President-elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to reward the top management of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for patriotism and impressive scorecard when he is sworn in as president.

The Progressive Ambassadors in a press statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mohammed Bello Mohammed insisted that the NNPCL’s top management officials- the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mele Kyari as well as the Chief Financial Officer, Mr Ajiya Umar Ajiya and the Company’s Vice President, Mr Adokieye Tomboieye deserve to be retained by the in-coming administration due to their diligent implementation of the oil and gas reforms of the APC administration.

The group explained that the successes recorded by the outgoing administration in the oil and gas sector were made possible due to transparency, patriotism, professionalism and diligence of the trio Kyari, Ajiya and Adokieye.

The statement also urged Nigerians and the Federal Government to disregard sponsored protests designed to distract the NNPCL’s top management, smear their reputation and ultimately truncate the federal government’s laudable programmes and policies in the oil and gas sector.

“The Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) which has transformed NNPCL into a limited liability company has earned the oil company public trust and global recognition as credible entity.”

The Progressive Ambassadors Project further explained that the NNPCL under the current management has recorded milestones through their interventions in infrastructure such as the $2.8billion Ajaokuta –Kaduna-Kano (AKK) natural gas pipeline project, diversification of domestic gas utilization and the provision of attractive framework for indigenous companies, which has enhanced capacity growth that now accounts for 30% of national oil and gas.
