The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has announced the suspension of six members from its Southwest leadership pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged misconduct and anti-party activities.
The suspensions follow the recent dissolution of the party’s executive committees in five states.

This was contained in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, after an emergency meeting of the NNPP’s National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja on Tuesday.

The statement revealed that the investigation will focus on offences committed by former executive members in Oyo State and other key members of the Southwest leadership.

The NWC had earlier dissolved the executives in Taraba, Benue, Oyo, Bauchi, and Gombe states, citing the need for reforms and repositioning.

The suspended individuals, including prominent figures such as Mrs. Ayobami Idowu Adekunle and Alhaji Rasheed Adebisi Olopoeniyan, face an initial three-month suspension, possibly further action depending on the probe’s findings.

Johnson noted that the party’s constitution allows such suspensions during ongoing disciplinary proceedings.

“The issues are generally tied to offences against the party and anti-party activities. The NNPP will not tolerate actions that undermine its unity and progress.

“All suspended members have been informed of the decision and are expected to appear before the National Disciplinary Committee,” Johnson said.

He reiterated that the probe is part of its commitment to internal discipline and reform, which is aimed at achieving its goals.
