An African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain and former candidate of the House of Representatives in Tarauni federal constituency during the 2023 general elections, Hon. Abdullahi Umar, has again tackled the former presidential candidate of the party, Mr Dumebi Kachikwu.

He accused him of working to undermine the coalition and the ADC, that are out to rescue the country from misgovernance.

At a press conference in Abuja, Umar said, “Mr Kachikwu has taken his resentment for Nigerians and the coalition a bit too far. He has resorted to name-calling, labelling some top ranking members old men, geriatrics and other unprintable names. Let it be known to Mr Kachikwu, ageing is an inevitable trajectory of life. Making mockery of individuals on the account of their age, is a shallow and inept premise. Therefore, it shows Mr Kachikwu lacks emotional intelligence.

“On his allegations or claims that the party was forcefully taken over by men of yesteryears. To prove, he (Kachikwu) doesn’t understand the dynamics of party politics. There are different arms in a political party. The BoT, NWC and NEC. I asked again, which arm does Mr Kachikwu belong to? He says you cannot come to a man’s house through the backdoor and take ownership, which house is he talking about? What stake does he have in the old ADC? To the best of my knowledge, none,” he said.

Umar continued, “If you follow the pattern of personal attacks on the leadership of the coalition by Mr Kachikwu, it has semblance with, and is consistent with that of the spokespersons of this administration. It is a well scripted playbook, drafted by agents of this administration, and anchored by Mr Kachikwu. It is not an open secret; he is working for the APC. He did that in the past. So, he is thwarting the very rescue mission of the ADC, he resents.”
