Chief press secretary (CPS) to Abia State governor, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, has denied that Governor Alex Otti’s convoy was attacked in the early hours of yesterday in Imo State.

In a statement made available to journalists, Njoku said the clarification followed reports that the convoy was attacked on the Umuowa–Ihite axis in that state.

He said it was the advance team from the office of the governor came under attack on the route.

“The three-member team was travelling to the Sam Mbakwe Airport at about 5 am when unidentified gunmen attacked their vehicle shortly before the airport junction.

“The general public is hereby informed that neither was the governor’s convoy involved nor were there any lives lost during the unfortunate incident” it added.
