The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has denied issuing any directive on commencement of zoning activities ahead of the party’s primary and the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the state APC publicity secretary, Benedict Yawe yesterday, the party said the ongoing zoning exercise in some local government areas should be put on hold pending official communication from the state secretariat.
It further directed that political activities across the 23 LGAs must be carried out in due consultation with designated lead pointmen and local government party chairmen in strict adherence to provisions of the party’s constitution.
“The State Working Committee of the APC in Benue State wishes to clarify that it has not issued any directive for the commencement of zoning activities in any part of the state.
“The party notes with concern reports of ongoing zoning exercises in some LGAs and states unequivocally that such activities are unauthorized,” the party said.
