Lagos State hovernor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has publicly debunked rumours of a rift between himself and President Bola Tinubu, dismissing the claims as baseless and rooted in speculation.

Speaking to journalists on Sunday after a courtesy visit to the President in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu addressed the growing chatter around an alleged discord, stating unequivocally that there was no strain in his relationship with the President.

“Did you see any discord?” he asked rhetorically, smiling. “Can’t you see even you, you are smiling, I am smiling, there is none.”

He went on to criticise those pushing the narrative of conflict, describing them as individuals who often dramatise situations for attention.

“You know, there are people that believe that they are more Catholic than the Pope. There are times that you see people that cry more than the bereaved,” he said.

Reaffirming his loyalty and respect for President Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu described their relationship as one grounded in mutual trust and mentorship.

“You know, father and son are things that we always ensure are clear. There is nothing at all,” he stated. “He is my father, he is my leader, and we are grateful that he has given us audience today to come in and say hello to him.”

The governor’s remarks came amid speculation on social media and in political circles that tensions were brewing between the Lagos State government and the Presidency.
