-Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, has said the leadership of the chapter would not tolerate any attempt to factionslise the party.
Ononogbu stated this during a caucus/stakeholders meeting of the party in Umuahia, warning that such attempt would be dealt with according to the constitution of the party.
He said the meeting was a forum for them to interface, review their activities before, during and after the 2023 general elections and chart the way forward for 2027.
“Thereafter, we will return to our wards and polling units to reposition and strengthen our party at the grassroots. And there’ll be no sitting on the fence on this all important assignment.
“Abia State chapter of the APC is one united family. There’s no faction whatsoever in the chapter. Going forward, we must ensure our party’s victory in all elections.
“I would like to see a united and formidable APC that is focused on important issues and also prepared to take over governance of the state come 2027,” he said.
Responding in their respective speeches, the stakeholders pledged loyalty to both the national and the state leaderships of the party, and promised to work for its victory at all levels in the 2027 general elections.
In a seven-point communique read by a former speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Azubuike, the party chieftains resolved to embrace unity, forgiveness, reconciliation, and eschew rancour and distraction.
The communique was endorsed by the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu; the state leader and 2023 governorship candidate, High Chief Ikechi Emenike; the chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu: and secretary, Chief Chidi Avaja.
