President Bola Tinubu on Friday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to extending quality infrastructure to satellite towns and underserved communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), declaring that no community would be left behind.

Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, the President made the pledge while commissioning the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.

He described the project as a demonstration of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and its commitment to translating campaign promises into tangible development.

The commissioning marked the conclusion of the FCT Administration’s 31-day project inauguration programme organised to commemorate the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration.

Tinubu said the reconstructed road would ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time, improve access to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX), boost commercial activities and enhance security in Kubwa and adjoining communities.

He said the federal government remained committed to ensuring that development was not limited to Abuja city centre.

“Our developmental vision for the Federal Capital Territory is complete inclusion. We refuse to restrict development to the high-brow city centre of Abuja. The suburbs, the outskirts and the satellite towns deserve the same high-quality infrastructure,” the President said.

He commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for driving infrastructure development across the territory and urged residents and community leaders to safeguard public facilities against vandalism.

Tinubu also assured Nigerians that the federal government would continue investing in roads, schools, hospitals and other critical infrastructure across the six Area Councils of the FCT.

Earlier, Wike described the 31-day commissioning programme as unprecedented, saying President Tinubu had become the first Nigerian leader to commission and flag off 21 projects within 24 days.

The minister said the programme was completed without any security breach or major incident and reflected the administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy.

According to him, the FCT Administration has awarded contracts for 317 kilometres of roads since President Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, with 221 kilometres completed and 96 kilometres still under construction.

Wike said major projects, including the Apo–Kado Road and the Kubwa–Kuje corridor, would be completed before the end of the year.

In her remarks, the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, commended President Tinubu for his support for the Renewed Hope Agenda and praised Wike for accelerating infrastructure development across the Federal Capital Territory.
