The Cross River State Government has said there is no plan to relocate the Okuku Campus of the University of Cross River State, UNICROSS, to Akamkpa.

The  state Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, made this known
during a media chat yesterday.
Odey described  the speculation as an unfounded, mischievous and politically motivated rumour.
He said that the rumour which has gained attraction  across the state has provoked “unnecessary anxiety among students, parents, staff and the good people of Yala and its environs.”
“Let it be stated categorically, unequivocally, and beyond any reasonable doubt that there is no aiota of truth in the rumour”. Odey stated.
“It’s  complete fabrication of lies and figment of political detractors’ imagination who are so determined to create chaos, sow discord, and distract the Otu’s administration.
The Commissioner added that contrary to the rumour, Governor Bassey Edet Otu has through the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francisca Bassey, recently approved the renovation of facilities at the Okuku Campus, to improve infrastructure and strengthen academic activities.
He maintained that “The Okuku Campus is not relocating. It is growing. It is thriving. And it will continue to be a centre of academic excellence for generations to come,” and advised the public to discountenance the false report.
