No Room For Imposition In Adamawa Gov’ship Race – Namadas

A governorship aspirant in Adamawa State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Abdulrazzak Sa’ad Namdas, has said there will be no imposition of candidates in the party.

Namdas, a former spokesperson of the House of Representatives, stated this while addressing journalists after he submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms in Abuja yesterday.

According to the veteran journalist, they have assurances from President Bola Tinubu, APC national chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri that there will be no imposition in the party.

“There is no issue of imposition as far as I am concerned. The leaders of the party at the national level—the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the national chairman of the party and the governor who is also a party leader at the state level—have assured us that there will be no imposition.

“I have no cause to fear. We are politicians and have presented ourselves before the public, which is why we were elected in the past. I can tell you that in Adamawa state, there will be no imposition.

“Pur Leaders will allow us to contest. If we are called for consensus, that does not mean we will not participate in the process. If we agree among ourselves, fine. If we do not agree, we go for a contest.

“But first and foremost, as a politician, contesting is more important than relying on Someone to agree with you. If he does not agree, what happens? So we are prepared. When I first came out for the governorship, I learned from that experience, and that is why I am contesting again.

“I am very sure that with a level playing ground—as our party leaders have always said—politicians should go and test their popularity. If you win, fine. If you lose, that is also part of politics.

“We are sportsmen in this game, so there is no problem. We are hopeful. From here, we will begin our campaign. We will go for screening, and once you are cleared, we will proceed to contest,” he added.

Also speaking when he submitted his expression of interest and nomination forms, a governorship aspirant for Nasarawa state, Senator Ahmed Wadada, thanked fellow aspirants who stepped aside following Governor Abdullahi Sule’s adoption of his candidacy.

He said their conduct demonstrated honour and integrity, asking God to reward them.

“To my fellow aspirants who have supported what the governor has decided, I cannot thank you enough. May Allah reward you abundantly,” he said.

Wadada paid tribute to Governor Sule, saying his administration had elevated Nasarawa beyond its immediate peers. “May Allah in his infinite mercy reward Governor Engineer A.A. Sule for making Nasarawa State what it is today. Nasarawa State is the pride of West Africa, not only Nigeria,” he said.
