Gov. Mohammed Umaru-Bago of Niger says there is no colony of any terrorist group in the state.
He disclosed this yesterday during an interview with newsmen shortly after receiving a delegation from the Niger Development Forum on a courtesy visit at the State’s liaison office in Abuja.
The forum is chaired by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris.
The governor acknowledged that there were parts of the state being attacked by terrorists who come in from some border states to terrorise the people.
“I can tell you that we don’t have any ungoverned space in Niger State. We have places that are being terrorised, that’s a fact. There is no terrorist or Boko Haram colony in Niger State,” he said.
Bago said his administration was strengthening collaboration with the federal government to ensure the security of lives and livelihoods across the state.
“I can reassure you that efforts are being made assiduously. We have a lot of deployments. We have a lot of collaborations with the federal government, and soon we are going to have a very peaceful Niger and Nigeria.”
